Distance shooters and hunters tend to set their sights (pun intended) on larger caliber rifles to fit their needs. And with those big bore rifles comes their big bore suppressor counterparts. With caliber ratings as high as .338LM, .458 SOCOM, and .408 Cheytac, we'll be covering our best selling suppressors and why they pack such a punch in their category.

Best Big Bore Rifle Silencers in 2020

We’re sharing this list of best large bore rifle suppressors to help you get your feet wet. Whether you’ve been searching for a long time, or you’re just starting out, this compilation will help propel you into all that these big bore silencers have to offer.

Goals, Host Firearms, and Big Bore Rifle Suppressors

Yes, big bore suppressors tend to be the largest of the bunch due to the calibers they’re suppressing. Looking for the best big bore rifle suppressor will depend greatly on your goals and your host firearm.

Your Goals: We’re not trying to be captain obvious here, but the best big bore silencer for you largely depends on what your goals are for it and what is most important to you. Length, weight and diameter all affect repeatability, bullet dispersion, accuracy, and point of aim / point of impact shift, making them all factors to consider when purchasing a big bore suppressor. Determining your goals for how you want your silencer to best perform does help narrow down the options.

Your Host Firearm: Everything boils down to what firearm you will be using your silencer on. Host firearms determine how large the bore size needs to be, and how much pressure the suppressor needs to handle. When searching for a big bore suppressor, customers tend to have one designated gun in mind to suppress. While that’s the usual case, there are customers looking for a jack-of-all-trades suppressor that works on as many host firearms as possible. While it can work on a variety of hosts, keep in mind that big bore suppressors are going to be heavier than, say, a suppressor designed for a 22 LR rifle.

The following list is compiled of our five top selling big bore rifle silencers so far in 2020. In the list below, you’ll find quick stats comparing and contrasting each top five suppressor seller side by side. Beyond the list, we go further into the detail on why we believe they’ve become a customer favorite in this big bore category.

OSS HX-QD Magnum Ti

OSS is notorious for their technologically advanced design, and the OSS HX-QD Magnum Ti is no different. Its patented Flow-Through technology creates lower back pressure, making for a more enjoyable experience for the shooter not having to deal with gases expelled from the ejection port. Another advantage of this OSS Flow-Through technology is that due to most of the gases being expelled out of the front of the firearm, it is exponentially less dirty.

As you’ll see, our big bore suppressor list has two OSS suppressors. The main difference between the HX-QD Magnum Ti and the HX-QD 338 Ti below is that this suppressor is more of a multi-cal suppressor that is lighter and shorter, but not quite as quiet as its OSS compadre below. One of our suppressor experts, Justin, said, “the HX-QD Magnum Ti OSS suppressor can withstand tons of abuse. It’s built like a tank, reliable, and very versatile, all at a good price point and only weighing 18 ounces.”

Final verdict: OSS’s HX-QD Magnum Ti has become extremely popular because of its versatility and precision. That, coupled with its patented OSS flow-through technology and impressive sound suppression makes this OSS suppressor the most popular in our big bore suppressor category.
